Thunder Announces Addition Of Jakin Smallwood

Drayton Valley Alberta – The Drayton Valley Thunder is pleased to announce they have signed Jakin Smallwood to the 2018-19 roster. Smallwood joins the Thunder from the Leduc Oil Kings Midget AAA Team.

Jakin, a 6’0 2001 born forward from Leduc, Alberta played 2 seasons and 63 games with the Leduc Oils Kings, registering 65 points at 1.03 points per game. Jakin helped lead the Kings to victory during the 2016-17 season when they took home the AMHL championship and attended the Telus Cup.

“Jakin is a true power forward. He possesses impeccable skill, speed, size, and the ability to score,” said new Head Coach and General Manager, Eric Thurston. “He plays well in all forward positions and can kill penalties and quarterback our powerplay.”

Jakin is excited to play high level hockey and looks forward to the intensity of the league. He will also be competing for a spot in Kootney in the WHL. He describes himself as a 200ft center who plays with high speed and good vision for the game. He expects the combination of hard working players and an experienced new Head Coach to result in an exciting and dynamic season that will bring pride to Thunder Fans and the Drayton Valley community.
