The Drayton Valley Thunder are pleased to announce the acquisition of ‘03 Defenceman, Grant Fuchsen from the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. The Thunder send the CJHL playing rights of Stephen Kirkpatrick and a PDF to the Saints in the deal.
The Elmhurst, Illinois native suited up in 41 games last season, scoring 4 goals, 11 assists for a total of 15 points and 80 penalty minutes. The 19 year old blue liner also dressed in 11 playoff games on their run to the AJHL final last season. Prior to his time in Spruce Grove, Fuchsen played five full seasons for Shattuck St Mary’s prep league.
“Adding a player and person like Grant to our mix was an absolute no brainer for our group. We needed to sure up our D core and adding a veteran piece who can play in all situations will serve us really well as we head into the season opener this weekend,” comments Geoff Walker, Head Coach and GM of the Thunder.
