Thunder Announce Five-Year Lease Extension with Town of Drayton Valley
DRAYTON VALLEY, AB – August 13, 2025 – The Drayton Valley Thunder are excited to announce a
five-year lease extension with the Town of Drayton Valley for the Omniplex facilities. This
agreement secures the Thunder’s home ice until the 2029-2030 hockey season, solidifying the
team’s community roots and strengthening its relationship with the Town.
“We’re incredibly excited to extend our lease agreement with the Town of Drayton Valley,” said
Kevin Young, President of the Drayton Valley Thunder. “The Omniplex has been our home since
the beginning, and we’re deeply grateful for the support and collaboration from the Town of
Drayton Valley, its elected officials, and management. This new lease signifies a strong
partnership as we move forward into a new chapter for the Thunder. This five-year commitment
provides us with stability, allowing us to continue building a strong, competitive team while
further investing in our community initiatives, infrastructure, and enhancing the fan experience.”
As part of the new lease, the Thunder have committed an annual capital allocation for
Omniplex improvements, and the agreement also creates new corporate partnership
opportunities.

The Omniplex provides the Thunder with a state-of-the-art arena, training spaces, and
administrative offices crucial for operations and player development. The Drayton Valley
