Drayton Valley Thunder Have Acquired Brad Ong

Drayton Valley Alberta – The Drayton Valley Thunder are pleased to announce they have acquired Brad Ong from the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. Ong joins the Thunder with fellow BCHL teammate James Orban as part of a two-player trade that sends the playing rights of Marcus Walter, currently playing in the NAHL, to the Bulldogs.

Brad, a 5’11 1999 born forward from West Vancouver, played in 66 games in the Canadian Sports School Hockey league putting up 92 points. During the 2016-17 season he was the Captain of the Burnaby Winter Club Midget Prep team. He tied for the playoff scoring title and was awarded the leagues most sportsmanlike player.

“Brad is an incredibly talented and dynamic player who obviously brings the rare ability to consistently put the puck in the net.  He is a player that plays with speed and incredible skill, that part is obvious,” said new Head Coach and General Manager, Eric Thurston.” He will also bring leadership to develop our team culture based on hard work and a real and demonstrated commitment to his team mates.”

Ong is excited to join the Thunder and looks forward to a fresh start where he can continue his development under Head Coach and General Manager Eric Thurston.  He describes himself as a responsible two-way player who leads by example with his hard work and dedication.  He looks forward to making an immediate impact and contributing too what is shaping up to be a very exciting and dynamic team.
