Drayton Valley Alberta – The Drayton Valley Thunder are pleased to announce they have acquired James Orban for the 2018/19 season. Orban joins the Thunder with fellow BCHL teammate Brad Ong as part of a two-player trade that sends the playing rights of Marcus Walter, currently playing in the NAHL, to the Bulldogs.
James, a 1998 born 6’0’’ forward from Calgary, Alberta, played 85 games with the Olds Grizzly’s before being part of a mid-season trade with the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. In his short time with the Bulldogs, Orban was 0.5 points a game putting up 15 points in 30 regular season games.
“James is an incredibly smart and skilled player who consistently works hard and plays at a high level. He will be vital for the teams offensive production,” said new Head Coach and General Manager, Eric Thurston. “ His leadership and character made him stand out during his time in BC, and will be extremely valuable for not only the team dynamic, but for the Drayton Valley community and the Thunder program.”
James is excited to join the Thunder and looks forward to continue his development as a player and as a leader under new Head Coach, Eric Thurston. He is thrilled at the opportunity to work with teammates that are hardworking and devoted to a culture of always competing hard everyday. James will be a key piece in making this season the exciting and dynamic year it is shaping up to be.
