Thunder acquire ’04 goaltender Chazz Nixon

TRADE

The Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are proud to announce the acquisition of ’04 Goaltender, Chazz Nixon.
Nixon split time last year with the Mississauga Steelheads, OHL and the Toronto Junior Canadians of the OJHL. Chazz capped off a memorable year in each spot by taking home a gold medal for Team Canada East at the World Junior A challenge in Cornwall, Ontario. Nixon started two games in the tournament for Canada East with a .892 save percentage and 3.87 GAA. With JRC in Toronto, Nixon started 19 games posting an impressive 1.98 GAA and a .931 save percentage.
“Nixon is a big athletic goalie who has Major Junior, Junior A and also big time tournament games under his belt. To be able to pull the trigger on a goalie of this caliber solidifies us in net and we expect big things this season from Chazz,” said Head Coach and General Manager, Geoff Walker after trading for the star Goalie.
The Thunder wish to welcome Chazz and his family to Drayton Valley.
Don’t miss the first exhibition game of the season Tuesday, August 29 at home as we take on the Whitecourt Wolverines AT 7:00PM.
