Marc Olivier Daigle Commits to University Of Alberta

The Drayton Valley Thunder are proud to announce that Marc Olivier Daigle has committed to the CIS University Cup Champion University of Alberta Golden Bears, who just recently won their second straight national championship. Daigle has been a three year starter with the Thunder after spending one year in the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads.

Marc Olivier Daigle was selected for the All-League and All-Rookie teams in the AJHL North Division in the 2012-2013 season and was also selected to play for Team Canada West at the CJHL Prospects Game in the same year. In his three seasons with the Thunder, Daigle had a career GAA of 2.88 as well as a career save percentage of .911.

“Marc came into our program and worked hard day in and day out on and off the ice from start to finish. He never took a day off and was a great player and person for our organization and community. He has great leadership skills and leaves a lasting legacy within our program,” stated Head Coach/GM Mike Mueller.” Marc is a very driven individual who expects the most out of himself every day and that will enable him to succeed at the next level with the U of A Golden Bears.”

“We also have to thank our goaltending coach Dave Rathjen from Above The Crease Goaltending. Dave and Marc worked very well together and I believe Dave brought the best out of Marc in their on ice and video sessions. Dave is the goaltending coach for the Golden Bears so that work was instrumental in Marc’s progression. I believe that it goes back to the old saying surround your team with good people and good things will happen.”

Daigle is the second member of the Drayton Valley Thunder to commit to the University of Alberta in the last two years as Tanner Clarkson finished his first year with the Golden Bears winning a national championship after committing upon the conclusion of the 2013-2014 season.

The Drayton Valley Thunder would like to congratulate Marc and his entire family and wish him the very best as he enters the next phase of his life as a student/athlete and we are looking forward to seeing your continued success.
