The Drayton Valley Thunder is pleased to introduce you to our newest member to our coaching staff Mandy Layden. Mandy this season is taking on the role of Power skating and video coach.

Mandy is passionate about hockey and has over 35 years of involvement in the sport, both playing and coaching. Playing her minor hockey days with the boys through to Midget, Mandy then moved on in her hockey career to play 4 years with the Edmonton Chimos in the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL) / Western Women’s Hockey League (WWHL).

The past 11 years Mandy has been a part of Drayton Valley Minor Hockey (DVMH) coaching her two sons, as well taking on the past 2 seasons an Assistant coaching position with the North Central Impact (NCI) U15AA of the AFHL.

Mandy’s involvement in the sport has allowed her to be a part of various Hockey Alberta camps and tournaments, including the U16 and U18 female programs. With Assistant Coaching positions at the 2019 Alberta Challenge and 2020 Alberta Winter Games, this past spring Mandy accepted the position of Head Coach for the 2022 Alberta Challenge and camp coach for the U18 Team Alberta 2022 Summer Camp.

Mandy is very excited for the opportunity to work with her hometown Drayton Valley Thunder in the AJHL this season.
