Shout Out to Our Very Own Bob Mills: Viterra AJHL Volunteer Award

The Alberta Junior Hockey League and Viterra are proud to once again recognize volunteers from each member team through the Viterra AJHL Volunteer Profile.   At the end of the regular season, one volunteer in both the Viterra AJHL North Division & Viterra AJHL South Division will be presented with the Viterra Salute to Service Award recognizing their service and commitment to the Alberta Junior Hockey League.

Name: Bob Mills
AJHL Team: Drayton Valley Thunder
Role: I started out selling 50/50 tickets and have recently started doing security and working the penalty box.
Number of Years Volunteering: I have been volunteering with the Thunder since the day of their very first home opener in 1997 – 20 years!
Why I Volunteer: Volunteering allows me to watch good hockey, allows me to socialize, and help the club and town. It's a win-win situation allowing the club to benefit and gives me self satisfaction.
Occupation: When I am not at the arena, I drive truck and operate my own skid steer business.
Favorite AJHL Memory: I think my favorite memory has to be going to Chilliwak, BC to cheer on the Thunder with co-volunteer Charlie Kesslar. We had a great time and watched some amazing hockey. I was proud to watch our small hometown team play hockey at that level.
Favorite AJHL Player: My favorite AJHL player has to be Alumni player #17, Mike Batovanja.
