Another Four Point Weekend

Thunder took to the road this past weekend to take on Bonnyville Pontiacs on Saturday, February 7 and then the Lloydminster Bobcats today, February 08th. Both games were won 3-2 in overtime earning Thunder a full four point weekend again.
In today’s game versus the Bobcats, Thunder chalked up two power play goals within the first 8 minutes of the game. These goals were compliments of #10 Joseph Tambasco from #9 Jamie Waddington and #17 Trevor Poirier for the first goal and then #10 Joseph Tambasco and #11 Brett Smythe set up #9 Jamie Waddington for the second.
In the second period, the Bobcats were able to tie the game and kept it that way until overtime. Overtime went back and forth several times with #1 Marc Olivier Daigle(Away Star of the Game) not giving an inch in the net robbing a couple of the Pontiac players blind as he made a couple fantastic glove saves. Then the real excitement came with just over two minutes left in overtime when #18 Brayden Harris, #10 Joseph Tambasco and #15 Jordan Taupert hit the ice. Brayden won the faceoff in the Thunder end with Joseph picking it up the puck by the boards. Joseph carried the puck the length of the ice deep into Pontiac territory. As Joseph steered the puck to the board to the right side inside the blue line, Brayden drove the net to create traffic in front of the Pontiac goalie. It was at this point that Joseph dished the puck over to Jordan who then caught the goalie off guard. Jordan back handed the puck into the roof of the net to finish off the OT and the weekend.
This was an incredible weekend for the Thunder!! These were two huge wins making it virtually impossible for Grande Prairie Storm from catching up before the playoffs and putting us one point behind the Wolverines. Next game will be Wednesday February 11 at home when the Spruce Grove Saints will be driving into town with the puck dropping at 7:30. Come on down to cheer on the Thunder as they take on the Saints.
