Addition to Thunder Scouting Staff- Micah Stipech to focus on U.S. Scouting and Recruiting.

The Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are excited to announce the addition of Micah Stipech to the scouting staff.
Micah’s primary role will be focused on US scouting and recruting. A native of Houghton, Michigan, Stipech began his coaching career as the Midget Rep Head Coach in Whistler, BC. He then assisted at Houghton High School where the team won 4 regional titles and appeared in the state final twice.
He launched and led the pre-post Team Copper Country program who were Tier 2 US National Champions in 2017 and 2018. Most recently he assisted the NCAA Div. 3 Finlandia University Hockey Team.
Stipech has been an instructor for USA Hockey’s Coaching Education Program since 2011 where he has been a part of establishing the American Development Model in Michigan. He has served as a lead evaluator for USA Hockey’s player development camps and is also a Level 5 coach. Stipech earned a bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University and a master’s degree from Trinity Western University.
