Truitt and Pufahl sign extensions

DRAYTON VALLEY, AB – November 30, 2025 – The Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are proud to announce that the organization has agreed to contract extensions with Head Coach & General Manager Jeff Truitt, and Assistant Coach and General Manager Josh Pufahl.

The extensions solidify both coaches’ commitment to the Thunder program, keeping the pair behind the bench through the 2027-2028 season. This move reflects the organization’s confidence in their leadership and dedication to building a long-term, successful future for the team.

Since taking the helm, Truitt, a veteran with deep roots in junior hockey, has been instrumental in establishing a culture of accountability, development, and competitiveness within the Thunder organization. Pufahl, a promising young coach, has solidified the skill development within the club, and has brought his much-needed organizational skills to a club that needed stability.

“This is an exciting day for the Drayton Valley Thunder,” said Team President, Kevin Young. “Jeff, and by extension, Josh, Desiree and Mark have demonstrated an exceptional alignment with ownership, and a commitment to our players, our organization, and the community. Extending their contracts was a key priority for us, as it secures the foundation for our long-term goals. Their combined experience and passion for developing young men into great hockey players is exactly what we need as we continue to strive for excellence in the AJHL.”

The Thunder is focused on sustaining a competitive program and believe the continuity provided by retaining the coaching staff is vital to achieving this vision.
