Update from the Town of Drayton Valley:
At approx. 13:00 hours on Jan. 24, 2014, a portion of the roof of the curling rink at the Drayton Valley Omniplex collapsed. Fire crews responded to the scene and immediately evacuated the building and secured the facility. A water leak and gas leak were detected in the affected area. Fire crews were successful in shutting off the water. ATCO Gas responded to the gas leak and were successful in shutting off the gas to the affected area. No injuries occurred as a result of this incident. For safety reasons, all scheduled events in the Omniplex and MacKenzie Conference Centre have been suspended until further notice. This incident is currently under investigation.
