The Drayton Valley Thunder is a Junior A hockey team competing in the North Division of the AJHL. Our team’s successes include: game wins against rival communities, and North and South division titles. Off ice, the Drayton Valley Thunder is an important part of our community. Our players and staff participate in events, volunteer at schools and help with minor hockey.
The Drayton Valley Thunder was incorporated in 1997 will be celebrating its 20th Season.
Are you looking for an opportunity to meet great people and expand your skills in the world of sales and marketing? This position will provide hands-on experience in sales and marketing in the Drayton Valley area. Experience will include community engagement, promotion of our brand and use of social media, communications, and market development and growth opportunities specific to the Drayton Valley Thunder.
Reporting to the President of the Board of Directors, this position is responsible for promoting the Drayton Valley Thunder in the community. The Marketing Manager will be required to: generate revenue by selling advertising, season and game tickets, and hosting fundraising events. The Marketing Manager is required to work closely with the board, staff, and community organizations to develop and maintain positive working relationships.
This position is a full time, salary and commission position.
Requirements:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sports Management or Marketing and / or Marketing Experience in a sports environment
– Proficiency with Excel, Word and Adobe
The successful applicant must have a positive attitude and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively to individuals and groups. Must be available on weekends, evenings and holidays as required. Long hours may be required. The ability to work independently on multiple projects and tasks in a fast-paced environment is essential. A passion for hockey and making a difference for the Thunder community is an asset.
