Thunder host first successful Spring Identification Camp under new ownership

Drayton Valley, Alberta – The Drayton Valley Thunder is pleased to announce the successful conclusion of our first Identification Camp under new ownership, resulting in two Letter of Intent (LOI) offers, 11 Fall Main Camp Tryout Invitations and 11 Fall Main Camp Developmental Invitations following a highly competitive weekend.

“We are thrilled with the outcome of this year’s Spring Identification Camp,” said Eric Schneider, Vice-President of the Drayton Valley Thunder. “The level of talent and hustle demonstrated by the players was truly impressive resulting in a lot of hard decisions. This weekend, and these offers, reflect our commitment to identifying and developing the next generation of Thunder players. We had targeted a balanced approach to our camp, and we are very excited about the outcome as we focus on the present and the future. This also leaves several spots available for main camp, leaving us excited to see the Summer Development Camp in June”.

President Kevin Young added, “Spring Camp marks an exciting new direction for the Drayton Valley Thunder. We are building a team that our community can be proud of, one that embodies hard work, accountability, discipline, and a winning community spirit. We are committed to our evolving player development model, our fans, and our billets. Player safety & education will be of the utmost importance with our club moving forward, and we are excited to bring a winning culture back to Drayton Valley. We are incredibly thankful to all the families who attended and entrusted us with their talented players. We are looking forward to a bright future.

The Thunder’s next action will be in early June when the Summer Development Camp will be held in Cochrane, Alberta starting June 6, 2025.
