Thunder Back On Track Again

Today, in Sherwood Park, it didn't take Thunder long to get back on the winning side once again. Our Drayton Valley Thunder jumped back on track quickly in the first and they came out the victors in this 5-4 end. Thunder totally dominated the first period by chalking up three goals scored by #27 Frederic Tanguay, #12 Mason Malkowich and #9 Brendan McKay–one short handed, the second as a full house, and the third goal came during a power play. The second period–not so nice. Thunder fan's were a bit nervous as Thunder's pair of tripping penalty's allowed Crusaders, along with one more goal, a chance to tie things up. But, towards the end of the second #12 Mason Malkowich and #21 Eric Sieben made it possible for #4 Tyler Hart to send another past Tomkins. For the third period, Thunder had control again right to the end where things turned into a bit of a nail biter for fans on both sides as Thunder added one more on the score board when #20 Nathan Smith tagging up with #21Eric Sieben so Eric could send one into the empty net with 40 seconds left on the clock. One would have thought this was the end but the game wasn't over yet. The Crusaders manage to make one last attempt with 6 seconds left in the match, but that is where they fell short. Thunder stayed out on top in the 5-4 win. Phewww!! What a roller coaster ride for the fans with great results in the end for Thunder and their fans!! Along with this exciting ride, #21 Eric Sieben totally earned this Away Star victory with his three assists throughout game and the empty netter at the end. Now, Thunder has the whole week to prepare for a double header back in our arena when they take on the Lloydminster Bobcats Friday Feb 15th and Saturday Feb 16th with the puck dropping at 7:30 both nights. See you there and be ready for more exciting action!
