Thunder acquire ’02 Forward Nikolas Campbell from Thunder Bay North Stars

The Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League have acquired 02 Forward Nikolas
Campbell (Thunder Bay, ON) from the Thunder Bay North Stars (SIJHL) for future considerations.

Campbell scored 24 goals and added 24 assists in 54 regular season games during the 2019-20 season
for the North Stars. The 17-year-old sensation was the only SIJHL player invited to attend Team Canada
West Selection camp for the 2019 World Jr. A Challenge. Campbell also was the lone SIJHL player selected
to play for Team West at the 2020 CJHL top Prospect’s game in Hamilton Ontario, where Team West
defeated Team East by a score of 6-4. Nikolas then began the 2020-21 campaign right where he left off
scoring 4 goals and 2 assists in only 4 games before the SIJHL season was cancelled due to Covid
restrictions.

Associate General Manager and Associate Coach Matt Keillor spoke about the trade.
“When Kadyn Chabot (3g, 2a, 4gp) moved onto the WHL last season it really left a big hole in our natural
goal scoring ability. Campbell really helps us in that department. He’s been a goal scorer at every level
and he will complement the speed, hockey sense and play making abilities of our incoming class and
returning forward group. Its not often players make the jump to Jr. A as a 17-year-old and score at the
pace Campbell has. He’s really excited to play in the AJHL this season and the opportunity to compete
against some of the best JrA players in the CJHL. We expect Nikolas to bolster our veteran core and we
are really excited to add him to this amazing group of players.”

The Thunder organization would like to welcome Nikolas and the Campbell family to Drayton valley.
Campbell is expected to join his new teammates when main camp begins August 20th. Season tickets can
be purchased through our website or by visiting Leah Emmett at the Thunder office located inside the
Drayton Valley Omniplex.
