It is with profound sadness that the Drayton Valley Thunder announces the passing of former President, Vice-President, billet, billet coordinator, director, sponsor, founding father, super fan, husband, father, grandfather and son Roger Coles at the age of 54.
Roger brought so much to the community of Drayton Valley, whether it was his generous heart or his determination to succeed, everyone Roger came in touch with left feeling loved and cared for. A member of the Thunder for over a decade, a founding father, the Thunder family has truly lost a great person.
We will miss his booming voice, his big laugh and his ability to get under visiting coaches skin! Roger was an amazing ambassador for the town of Drayton Valley and for the Thunder hockey club. Roger made sure everyone he met felt welcome and important in every single way.
As we look ahead to the future, gone is that wacky fan in section D, the bullhorn blaring at every referee’s call and those visiting coaches trying to get Roger kicked out. But you will always be a part of the Thunder family and we will always remember the lessons you taught us.
You are gone, but not forgotten.
RIP Roger Coles
