The Drayton Valley Thunder are excited to announce the signing of Mitch Verenka!
Mitchell Verenka (Edmonton, AB) is a 2001 forward who stands 5’10, 179 lbs. He has impressed our staff both in league play and when called up to the Thunder this season.
HC/GM Eric Thurston speaks of Verenka saying, “Mitch brings speed, skill and a relentless work ethic to our program. I really like the way Mitch competes and he has a real nice touch around the net.”
Verenka played 5 games up with the Thunder this year and 6 with the Bonnyville Pontiacs last season. He finished this season with the SSAC Athletics Midget AAA as the top goal and points scorer for his team with 26 points in 34 games (10 goals, 16 assists). Last season, he put up 21 points (13 goals, 8 assists) in 33 games on the road to winning the Midget Prep League Championship (CSSHL).
