The Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League is excited to announce the hiring of Maya Essery for the position of Athletic Therapist and Equipment Manager for the up coming 2024/25 season.
Maya, newly graduated with a bachelors of applied health with specialization in athletic therapy from Sheridan College and first responder certified.
“Athletic therapy, specifically hockey is my passion and I love being a part of these athletes journeys to their next steps, keeping them safe and watching the grow,” says Maya.
In the past Maya has worked with numerous teams in the OJHL, the BC Lions of the CFL as a student intern, the University of Toronto’s mens soccer and track and field team as well as the Atlantic Canada HOA Camps based out of Jays Peak Resort in Vermont.
“We are really excited to have someone of Maya’s caliber join our organization. After last season and heading into this season this is a huge priority for us. We believe that Maya is a perfect fit for our day to day culture and organization. We would like to welcome Maya and her family to Drayton Valley, and we look forward to her arrival in August “, says Head Coach and GM, Geoff Walker.
