Matthew Kinash Signs With Thunder

Drayton Valley Alberta – The Drayton Valley Thunder is pleased to announce the addition of Matthew Kinash to the 2018-19 roster. Matthew joins the Thunder from OHA prep in Edmonton, Alberta.

Matthew, a 6’0 1999 born forward from Edmonton played 3 seasons and 90 games at OHA Prep, putting up 97 points at 1.08 points a game. He got a taste of AJHL hockey during the 2017-18 season when he played a game with the Whitecourt Wolverines, and has returned for his first full season in the AJHL league.

“Matthew plays the game with exceptional speed and skill. He possesses a very quick release and will be a guy to turn to for offensive production,” said new Head Coach and General Manager, Eric Thurston. “He was the Captain of his Midget Prep team at OHA and is a great leader on and off the ice.”

Matthew is excited to join the Thunder program and looks forward to being part of an organization whose beliefs and values are completely in line with his own. He describes himself as an offensive playmaker who is good off the rush and who really knows how to put the puck in the net. He is excited for the opportunity to work with a team of hardworking players and with new Head Coach and General Manager, Eric Thurston. Matthew is eager to make immediate contributions to the team and the community while simultaneously working to reach his own athletic goals.
