On Friday, January 18, our Drayton Valley Thunder set out to take on Spruce Grove Saints but it was Spruce who put two in the net first. The score stayed 2-0 for the first two periods. Drayton found it impossible to put the puck into their net as it seemed like it was penalty after penalty throughout the second period. Thunder was not able to capitalize until early in the third when #20 Nathan Smith fed one to our newest member #23 Doug Jones who drove it into the net. Now it looked like Thunder was going to turn up the jets but that was short lived because the team was bombarded with several more penalties for the remainder of the third. Spruce scored two more after that giving Spruce a 4-1 win. As for our Away Star, Doug went home with the crown for the night. That was well deserved Doug and I, for one, am looking forward to seeing more of your talent in the games to come. We wish you and Thunder good luck today when you meet up the Olds Grizzlys when the puck drops at 2:30. Gooo Thunder!! We also invite all of our Thunder friends and family members young and old to bring their skates and helmets. Immediately following the game, you can join the players for a skate. Remember to also bring your favorite t-shirt or whatever you wish (along with a marker) so you can have the players autograph it for you during the skate. Once the skate is over, the Junior Thunder members will have added excitement as they get to join our Thunder players for a pizza party. So, come on out for an afternoon of fantastic entertainment. See you there.
