The Drayton Valley Thunder (AJHL) are seeking a qualified and motivated Athletic Therapist for the
2025–26 season. We are an organization committed to high performance and player development,
and we’re looking for someone to help keep our athletes healthy, prepared, and ready to compete
at their best.
As the team’s Athletic Therapist, you play a key role in keeping players healthy and performing at
their best. You’ll prepare athletes before practices and games with taping, stretching, and
treatments; manage injuries during practices and games; and assist with post-practice recovery.
You’ll also help run the team’s oQ-ice fitness and strength programs to support safe physical
development. The role includes keeping accurate treatment records, coordinating with healthcare
providers, managing therapy supplies, and traveling with the team for all games.
Key responsibilities include:
• Injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, along with developing/implementing
recovery strategies
• Pre-practice and pre-game taping and preparation
• On-ice and bench injury management during games and practices
• Assisting in the planning and supervision of team fitness and conditioning sessions
• Maintaining injury records and documentation
• Coordinating care with external healthcare providers
• Managing therapy equipment and supplies
• Traveling with the team for all games (home and away)
• Supporting the coaching staQ with other team-related needs
The ideal candidate will be a Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) or hold an equivalent healthcare
qualification, have current First Aid and CPR certification, and ideally have experience working in
hockey or a high-performance sport setting. A background or understanding in strength &
conditioning, fitness training, or kinesiology is an asset. Strong communication skills,
professionalism, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment are essential.
