Heartland senior sensation signs with the Thunder!
The Drayton Valley Thunder of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are excited to announce “˜03 forward Andrew Larson has signed a Letter of Intent for the 2021/22 season.
The 6’1″ 193lb left winger and captain of Heartland High School has just resumed play for the 2020/21 season and has already amassed 6pts in the team’s first 2 games. The Michigan product is familiar with Canadian hockey, playing in the prestigious Quebec international Peewee tournament for Detroit Compuware in 2015/16.
Associate Coach and General Manager Matt Keillor spoke about the Michigan forward “I have to give a lot of credit to our US scout Micah Stipech. He has a keen eye for players in High School and what skills translate well in the North division of the AJHL. When we started to really watch Andrew, we noticed the puck always seemed to find him, and suddenly it’s in the back of the net. He has a knack for scoring goals and is particularly good at pulling pucks from piles and making things happen. I think Andrew will complement some of the playmakers coming in or returning next season and will be on NCAA radars very quickly.”
The Thunder would like to welcome Andrew and the Larson family to Drayton Valley and wish him all the best as he finishes his senior year at Hartland! We look forward to having you in our community for the 2021/22 season!
