Drayton Valley Thunder Appoints Marshall Plandowski as Assistant Director of Player Personnel

DRAYTON VALLEY, AB — The Drayton Valley Thunder are pleased to announce the appointment
of Marshall Plandowski as Assistant Director of Player Personnel, effective immediately. Plandowski brings hockey experience, business expertise, and an analytics-driven approach to support the Thunder’s player identification, recruiting, and development efforts.

Currently a Marketing Analyst supporting Western Canadian oil and gas portfolios, Plandowski specializes in scheduling, logistics, and data-driven operational decision-making. He began his career in venture capital, contributing to financial modelling and asset acquisition initiatives in the medical technology sector.

Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Plandowski graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences and followed that by completing his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Finance.

Having played junior hockey in Eastern Canada, and coming from a high-performance hockey family, Plandowski understands the demands and opportunities facing young athletes working to reach the next level.

“Marshall is exactly the type of person we want in our hockey operations group,” said Daryl Winter, Director of Player Personnel for the Drayton Valley Thunder. “He combines strong hockey instincts, an analytical mindset, strong values and a tremendous work ethic. As the game evolves, understanding both the numbers and the person behind them is increasingly important. Marshall brings that balance, and we’re excited to welcome him to our player personnel team.”

“I’m incredibly excited to join the Drayton Valley Thunder organization,” said Plandowski. “I believe in the vision the Thunder are building with respect to player development and creating opportunities for athletes on and off the ice. I look forward to supporting recruiting, scouting, and identifying players who fit this program’s values and standards.”

Plandowski will support recruiting initiatives, player evaluations, database management, and the
continued development of the club’s analytics capabilities.
