Drayton Valley Thunder Announces Promotion and Contract Extension for Josh Pufahl
DRAYTON VALLEY, AB – July 15, 2025 – The Drayton Valley Thunder are proud to announce that Josh Pufahl has been promoted to Assistant General Manager, in addition to his existing role as Assistant Coach for the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) team. The team also announced today that they have come terms one a contract extension with Pufahl. The term of the agreement is for two years, with a mutual third-year option between the team and Pufahl, aligning with new General Manager and Head Coach, Jeff Truitt.
“Meeting with and securing Josh’s contract was my first order of business after arriving in Drayton Valley,” commented Jeff Truitt, General Manager and Head Coach of the Drayton Valley Thunder. “After my first meeting with Josh, it was clear he is committed to the Thunder, he’s hard working, has a keen eye for talent, and an ability to connect with our players which make him an indispensable part of our staff. His dual role as Assistant Coach and Assistant General Manager will continue to be crucial as we strive for excellence in the AJHL and locking him up for two years was a no-brainer.”

Being full time now also allows me to become part of the community, which I am really looking forward to.”
Pufahl was an invaluable asset to the Thunder organization last year through the ownership change, and that commitment only continued through the recent search that resulted in Truitt landing with the club. Pufahl will continue to contribute his hockey knowledge, organizational skills, and leadership both behind the bench and in the front office. His dedication to player development and strategic team building makes him a great fit for the new vision in Drayton Valley.
